On 1 April, if you have a headcount of 20 or more employees, you will need to be set up for Single Touch Payroll by 1 July 2018.
Single Touch Payroll means reporting your pay run information to the ATO at the same time as you pay your employees, directly from your software. This information can pre-fill into Business Activity Statements, and means that you won't have to produce PAYG Payment Summaries at year end.
The ATO have a comprehensive guide on what this means for you at ATO - Single Touch Payroll.
Most software providers are incorporating this as part of a new feature of their program. MYOB, for example, has advised that they will have all of their payroll-enabled products compliant by the deadline.
If you will have 20 or more employees on 1 April, and you are not using any payroll software, please contact us so that we can help you find a solution to suit you.
